The 3810 was designed as an NIJ level III plate, and does not cover M855A1. It does cover the M855, but not the Enhanced Performance version. Another distinction is that the L210 is not an NIJ level 3 plate; it is a Special Threat plate.
Level 3+ special threat is a stop gap measure developed for those not authorized by the United States Department of Defense to manufacture Level 4 Plates. It is not officially recognized by the National Institute of Justice, but offers superior protection to Level 3.
